Feldberg

At 1,493 meters, the Feldberg is not only the highest mountain in the Black Forest, but also a popular tourist destination with a wide range of activities. You can hike up the Feldberg, climb it by bike, or explore it comfortably by gondola. From the Feldberg, you'll enjoy breathtaking views that, on clear days, extend all the way to the Alps. For a panoramic view, visitors can climb the Feldberg Tower, which also houses a ham museum. There are numerous hiking trails on the Feldberg, including the picturesque path to Feldbergsee (Lake Feldberg), which, however, can be challenging for young children. The "Wichtelpfad" (Gnome Trail) children's hiking trail is particularly recommended. Lovingly designed, it's a highlight for both children and adults. The adventure trail tells the story of Anton the capercaillie, who urgently needs a letter delivered, while playfully teaching interesting facts about the capercaillie. A small playground awaits at the end of the trail. Please note that the children's hiking trail is not wheelchair accessible. The Fundorena indoor sports hall offers opportunities for jumping, climbing, and horseback riding, while a high ropes course and the interactive "Haus der Natur" museum also attract visitors. There's plenty to experience on the Feldberg; we recommend carrying young children in a carrier on all excursions.

There are large playgrounds, an adorable gnome forest, a climbing park, and the Fundorena (a 4,000-square-meter indoor sports hall with a trampoline arena, high ropes course, bouldering wall, fitness area, and an indoor riding arena). Don't forget your non-slip socks! The Feldberg mountain is right on the doorstep, and you can either explore the countless hiking trails or take the cable car up. At 971 meters, the Wurmberg is one of the highest mountains in the Harz Mountains, surpassed only by the Brocken. The Wurmberg is easily accessible by gondola or on foot, and the paths are well-maintained. At the summit, there are numerous attractions for children, including a goat and rabbit enclosure, playgrounds, a water playground, balancing activities, and an exciting marble run (wooden marbles can be purchased from a vending machine). An observation tower (entrance fee required; you can also get married here) offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area, and those who wish can descend via a tunnel slide. Food and drink are also available. Several hiking trails start from here, including one to the Brocken. For more action, the descent can be experienced by mountain bike (various challenging routes) or monster scooter.

Derenburg

Glasmanufaktur Harzkristall

How is glass actually made? You can experience this fascinating question firsthand at the Harzkristall glassworks. As one of the last glassworks of its kind, it offers a captivating guided tour (for a fee) through the workshop. You'll have the opportunity to watch the glassblowers at work and gain exciting insights into their traditional craft. A special highlight is the creative workshop: For a small fee, you can get creative yourself and design unique souvenirs – such as tealight holders, drinking globes, or hand-blown Christmas ornaments. In addition to the large shop, you'll find an atmospheric Christmas world with everything you need for decorating your home. If you'd like to take a break, the café and bistro offer savory snacks and sweet treats. The charming outdoor area invites you to linger afterward. There's a varied program for children: Together with the little witch Selizia, they can explore the cottage garden with a free puzzle – all while enjoying a view of the Brocken mountain. A little surprise awaits them at the end. The adventure playground with bouncy castles, a zip line, and much more provides plenty of action, while the climbing course invites you to try it out. An artificial waterfall cascades right in the garden, and in summer you can dip your feet in the cool water on the banks of the Holtemme River. Good to know: The glassworks is largely wheelchair accessible, and dogs are welcome on a short leash. There is a daily parking fee. The nearly 10-kilometer-long Bachforelle (Bach Trout) adventure trail also starts here and leads to the market square in Wernigerode.

Numerous interactive stations and information panels along the way invite you to playfully discover nature and its animal inhabitants. A short detour leads to the barefoot path, where you can experience nature with all your senses. A special highlight is the large listening owl: with it, you can perceive even the faintest sounds of your immediate surroundings. At the end of the trail, the HohneHof Nature Experience Center awaits you – with an adventure playground for children and delicious treats for the whole family (please note the opening hours). You can then easily return to the parking lot via the main path.

Familienurlaub Harz Mädchen steht auf der Hängebrücke Titan RT

Titan-RT Hängebrücke

Near Pullman City lies the Rappbode Dam, Germany's largest reservoir. Here you'll also find the Titan-RT suspension bridge, at 458.5 meters one of the longest suspension bridges in Germany. At 100 meters above the Bode reservoir, the bridge is definitely not for those with a fear of heights. Our tip: It's a bit quieter and more relaxed here in the evening. Music is played across the entire bridge, presumably to calm more nervous visitors. You can also experience other unforgettable activities here, such as the Mega Zipline, where you whiz past the suspension bridge. Parking is subject to a fee, and there's also a restaurant, a playground, and an observation tower (admission fee applies). Access to the bridge with walkers, strollers, electric mobility aids, or wheelchairs is only possible with prior registration at the visitor center. Dogs are not allowed on the bridge.

Take the gondola or chairlift for a comfortable ride to the summit – where you'll not only be rewarded with a fantastic view of the valley, but also a world of adventure. Get your adrenaline pumping on the two summer toboggan runs: zoom down the 1,240-meter track on the Bocksbergbob or visit the three-headed dragon in its mysterious cave on the Drachenblitz. If you're in the mood for a puzzle, embark on a quest for the stolen Bocksberg crystal in the Witch's Labyrinth. For a real thrill, try the Bocksbergtub tire slide, and soar high above the ground on the Zipline Adventure Course. There are also numerous play attractions for children, and if you're at least 1.40 meters tall, you can whiz down the 1.5-kilometer forest run on the Bocksbergcarts. For mountain bikers and downhill enthusiasts, there are attractive and challenging trails that are sure to get your adrenaline pumping. Of course, refreshments are also available: various restaurants and cafes offer a welcome opportunity to refuel. Young adventurers can explore the Bocksberg with the Drachenblitz stamp card and collect a surprise at the end. Those who have the whole day should definitely hike the approximately 6.3-kilometer-long Liebesbankweg (Lovers' Bench Trail) – a beautiful circular route with stunning scenery and breathtaking panoramic views.

Liebesbankweg

One of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Harz Mountains is the Lovers' Bench Trail in Hahnenklee. This trail leads once around the Bocksberg mountain (approx. 6.3 kilometers) and offers magnificent views, lakes, and romantic displays of love. For children, there's a water playground, a Kneipp pool, the Egerland café (with hot meals, children's menus, ice cream, and homemade cakes), and the Lovers' Bench Trail stamping stations (for the golden Harz Hiking Badge stamp card, available at every tourist information center in the Harz). You can even swim in the crystal-clear water of the Flößteich pond, but be careful, the access is steep in some places. Furthermore, the ErlebnisBocksBerg adventure park offers fun for everyone with its cable car, chairlift, and summer toboggan run. Free parking is available, for example, at the Kreuzeck hiking parking lot.

UNESCO-Welterbestadt
Goslar

The charming old town of Goslar, a UNESCO World Heritage city, invites you to take a leisurely stroll. The benches are perfect for resting and admiring the sights, as the old buildings have many stories to tell. The carillon in the market square is particularly impressive, with the figures on the bell tower dancing at 9:00, 12:00, 15:00, and 18:00. The old town offers numerous small shops to browse, restaurants and cafés to relax in, and a tin figure museum. You can also climb the tower of the Market Church of St. Cosmas and Damian (entrance fee applies) or explore the Romanesque Imperial Palace with the Goslar Imperial Chair and its beautiful park. The city is especially enchanting in the late afternoon when it becomes a little quieter.

Familienurlaub Harz Blick in den Stollen des Rammelsberg bei einer Führung

UNESCO Weltkulturerbe
Rammelsberg
Museum & Besucherbergwerk

The UNESCO World Heritage Site Rammelsberg was a major non-ferrous metal deposit in Europe and is now a walk-through museum with underground tours. For over a thousand years, ores such as copper, lead, and zinc were continuously mined here. Some of the tours are suitable for children as young as four. The "On-Site Mine Train" tour is particularly recommended, where you ride for five minutes in an enclosed mine train to the former workplaces of the Rammelsberg miners. There, you'll gain fascinating insights into the miners' daily work and immerse yourself in the underground world of mining. For the tour, you should bring warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and a flashlight if needed. Please note: This tour is not suitable for children who are easily frightened! The various guided tours are offered regularly during the day for a fee and are not included in the regular museum admission. The museum also features a shop with a wide selection of gemstones and a restaurant. The museum is wheelchair accessible, and tours in sign language are available upon request. Free parking is also available. Dogs are not permitted.

The theme park is perfect for a family outing and completely forgoes wild roller coasters and carousels. The numerous shops offer Wild West-style clothing and special handcrafted souvenirs. Pullman City Harz is also shaped by the many authentic enthusiasts and hobbyists who live here. A particular highlight is the grand Great Wild West Show at 3:30 pm on Main Street, where you can get up close to bison and Texas Longhorn cattle. Secure a shady spot well before the show. Pullman City is wheelchair accessible, but be aware of some natural inclines. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Those in historically accurate 18th- or 19th-century attire, horseback riders, and children under 4 years old receive free admission.

Langenstein

Blick auf einer Höhlenwohnung

Langensteiner Höhlenwohnungen

The cave dwellings of Langenstein transport you to a truly unique atmosphere – almost as if you were visiting the hobbits from Lord of the Rings. In reality, however, they didn't arise from fantasy, but from necessity: Due to a severe housing shortage, farm laborers' families carved their dwellings into the soft sandstone and settled in there in no time. The dwellings were inhabited until 1916. A total of ten small rock dwellings were created, often surrounded by herb gardens. Each dwelling boasted a surprisingly complete set of amenities: a living room, kitchen, bedroom, a child's sleeping area, and a storage room. Today, five of these unique dwellings are preserved and can be visited free of charge year-round (please note the opening times). Guided tours are also available. Donations are appreciated to help preserve the cave dwellings.

Kind wandert auf der Altenburg

Altenburg

As early as the 12th century, an imposing castle complex was built on the striking sandstone massif known as the "Langer Stein" (Long Stone). Measuring approximately 300 meters in length and up to 50 meters in width, the fortress covered almost the entire plateau of the rocky promontory. Over the centuries, the castle was repeatedly subjected to armed conflict. After the Thirty Years' War, it was finally completely destroyed. The stones were subsequently used as building material for numerous structures in the surrounding area. Today, only parts of the moat and remnants of the fortress walls recall the former glory days of the "castle on the Long Stone." Also remaining are rock caves and so-called rock dwellings, which were carved out of natural caves after the abandonment of the old castle. A former water cave and a cave dwelling, last inhabited until 1961, can also be found here. Official access to the caves is currently closed due to the risk of collapse. However, an alternative ascent leads via the village road and past the Schäferhof festival barn. From Altenburg, you can also enjoy hikes in the surrounding area, for example up to the Hoppelberg. Breathtaking panoramic views of the region accompany you along the way. Tip: Remember to wear sturdy shoes!

Innerstestausee

If you're looking for a magical spot for stargazing, the Innerste Reservoir could be a great option. From the free Innerste Dam parking area, you can walk directly to the impressive reservoir, where you'll find benches to relax on. Since the reservoir isn't illuminated, you'll have a fantastic view of the night sky in all directions. It's a good idea to bring a flashlight and comfortable cushions. During the day, the Innerste Reservoir is perfect for hiking, and you can swim in the clear, inviting bays.

Schierke

Blick auf die Villa Bodeblick

Villa Bodeblick

Villa Bodeblick is a wonderful starting point for a hike up the Brocken mountain or for various excursions in the Harz Mountains. It's located right in the heart of the Harz National Park – not exactly cheap, but with a truly unique location. We opted for one of the three cozy lodges. With their spacious living areas, they are ideal for families. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived: the huge panoramic window makes you feel like you're sitting directly in the forest – accompanied by the soothing sound of the Kalte Bode river as it meanders through Schierke. For those wanting to treat themselves, a private time slot in the sauna lodge can be booked, allowing you to unwind and relax at the end of the day. In the evenings, you can also enjoy stargazing and watching shooting stars from the lodges. A varied breakfast buffet awaits you each morning. Your lodge also includes a private coffee machine. As an alternative to the lodge, you can also stay in the stylish Art Nouveau villa, which offers a choice of modernly furnished hotel rooms and suites. Charging facilities are, of course, available for guests with electric cars or e-bikes.

Restaurant Luis

At Restaurant Luis, you can indulge in culinary delights – from a hearty breakfast and savory tarte flambée breaks to sweet treats. Our tip: Be sure to try the delicious bread pudding! Newly interpreted dishes also beckon – and one thing is for sure: you're guaranteed to leave with a full stomach. For children, there are special menus, coloring supplies, and a cozy indoor playroom (please note: the playroom is located in the basement). Outside, a large adventure playground awaits. Dogs are also warmly welcomed at Luis, so the whole family can enjoy the many culinary delights together.

Blick auf die Brocken-Coaster Bahn

Brocken Coaster Schierke

A truly special experience for young and old – any time of year – is the Brocken Coaster in Schierke. This modern summer and winter toboggan run stretches from Ober-Schierke almost to Unter-Schierke and promises plenty of fun. Children as young as 3 can ride accompanied by an adult. From the age of 8 and a minimum height of 1.35 meters, little adventurers can even tackle the track on their own.

The value for money is excellent – a multi-ride ticket is particularly worthwhile. While the track isn't the longest, the numerous curves, rapid descents, and small hills ensure an unforgettable ride. A small souvenir shop and a food area complete the offerings at the Brocken Coaster.

Blick auf das Brockenhaus

Hike to the Brocken

A visit to the Brocken is a must on any trip to the Harz Mountains. Northern Germany's highest peak can be reached in a variety of ways – by the nostalgic Brocken Railway, a horse-drawn carriage, by bicycle, or, of course, on foot. The ascent from Schierke, an idyllic village at the foot of the mountain, is particularly popular. Several diverse trails lead up from here. For hikers, there are two especially beautiful routes: The more challenging trail starts on Brockenstraße at the Schierke National Park House. There, you'll find plenty of fascinating information about the Brocken's nature and history. The signposted trail, known as the "White Deer" Fairy Tale Trail, leads picturesquely through the Harz National Park, along the Schwarzes Schlupfwasser stream, and over the Eckerlochstieg path. Sure footing is essential, especially in the final section, as large stones characterize the path. Information panels and the story of the white deer accompany hikers to the summit. For those who prefer a more leisurely approach, the Hermann-Löns-Weg trail is a great option. This trail leads through the Hochharz bird sanctuary, past the Kesselklippen cliffs, and along the Urwaldstieg (Ancient Forest Trail). Here, the paths are significantly flatter and therefore suitable for families with young children. With a bit of luck, you might even see the steam-powered Brocken Railway passing by. Cyclists are best advised to use the paved main path to the summit. Once you reach the top, the Brocken rewards you with a breathtaking view. In addition, you'll find the Brockenhaus (Brocken House) with its museum, restaurants and cafes, public restrooms, and a compass disc to help you orient yourself in the surrounding landscape.

Thale

Seilbahnen Thale Erlebniswelt

The Thale Adventure World cable cars and the Hexengondolina gondola will take you to where the fun is. The cable car takes you directly to the 454-meter-high Hexentanzplatz (Witches' Dance Floor). The green gondolas with glass floors are especially recommended. Once at the top, after a short walk, you can try the Harzbob summer toboggan run for a thrilling ride. You'll definitely want to come back for more! Children aged 8 and up, and at least 1.30 meters tall, can ride down the mountain on their own. For a more relaxed alternative, be sure to visit the Rosstrappe (Horse's Hoofprint). Take the chairlift comfortably to the top, and then it's about a 20-minute walk to the hoofprint of Princess Brunhilde's horse. Legend has it that she successfully escaped from Knight Bodo here with a daring leap on her horse. Not for imitators, but the view is picturesque. On the chairlift ride back down, you can enjoy fantastic views of Thale. Back in the valley, the "Fun Island" invites you to linger with various activities for all ages. Here you can experience, for example, a thrilling ride on the Witch's Train or jumps into the water on the Nautic Jet. The attractions are charged using a points system, so you can decide how often and for how long you want to use each one. For a relaxing end to your day, the charmingly designed mini-golf course is perfect. You can park conveniently in the parking lot at Parkstraße 1a in Thale.

Hexentanzplatz

The Hexentanzplatz (Witches' Dance Floor) in the Harz Mountains is probably the most popular tourist destination in the region. You can reach it from Thale by gondola, on foot, or by car. The path to the Hexentanzplatz from the gondola is particularly child-friendly, with many small play areas. At the Hexentanzplatz, you'll find a newly built Witches' Village with numerous shops and restaurants, as well as the Witches' Ring. There's also a small animal park, the Walpurgis Hall (a museum housing the "Walpurgis Night" painting cycle from Goethe's "Faust" by Hermann Hendrich), a Witches' Museum in the Harzeum Museum, the Harzbob toboggan run, and a Witch's House. The newly renovated Harz Mountain Theatre will reopen in 2025. The Hexentanzplatz is an enchanting place where you might even encounter a witch. Several hiking trails into the picturesque Bodetal Nature Reserve also begin here.

At the Hexentanzplatz (Witches' Dance Floor), right next to the large parking lot, you'll find the Hexenhaus Thale (Witches' House Thale), where the witch Watelinde has cast a spell – her entire house is upside down! Here you can discover some unique photo opportunities inside the house and even have your picture taken upside down. The photos are then simply "flipped" on the camera's display to create this magical effect. In the Hexenwald (Witches' Forest) near the house, you can discover some special wooden figures. This entertaining destination boasts family-friendly admission prices and a small selection of food and drink options.

Rosstrappe

At the Rosstrappe viewpoint, a picturesque view of the Bodetal nature reserve awaits you. You can faintly hear the murmur of the Bode River. Up here, you'll find the hoofprint of Princess Brunhilde's horse. Legend has it that she and her horse bravely leaped over the cliffs to escape the knight Bodo. The princess made the jump but lost her crown to the depths below. The knight also dared to jump but transformed into a dog to guard the princess's crown in the Bodetal valley. The hike to the Rosstrappe is incredibly scenic; sturdy shoes are recommended. The path is not wheelchair accessible! For a shortcut, you can take the chairlift. From the chairlift, it's about a 20-minute walk to the hoofprint. Our tip: enjoy the incredible view of Thale during the chairlift ride down. A mountain bike descent is also possible.

Bode

If you follow the hiking trail behind the mini-golf course at the Thale cable car adventure park, you'll arrive directly at the wildly romantic Bode Valley on the Bode River. There, you can dangle your feet in the water and watch birds hunting for insects. It's advisable for younger children to stay close to the bank, as the currents can sometimes be quite strong. A picnic on the riverbank is definitely worthwhile. The 169-kilometer-long river flows into the Saale River.

Wernigerode

Brockenhaus

The Brockenhaus is located right on the summit of the Brocken mountain and is a real highlight for explorers of all ages. In a modern, interactive permanent exhibition, you'll discover fascinating details about the Brocken's unique natural environment and its transformation over the centuries. The region's eventful history also comes alive – from the time of the inner-German border to intelligence activities in the Harz Mountains and on the Brocken. Numerous hands-on exhibits make the visit particularly engaging: you can virtually fly over the Brocken on a broomstick or follow the path of a raindrop on the marble run. An absolute highlight is the open roof terrace with its 360° panoramic view – on a clear day, the view extends up to 200 kilometers. A small café with large panoramic windows invites you to enjoy refreshments, and the shop offers beautiful souvenirs of your Brocken adventure. You should plan on spending about 2-3 hours for your visit.

Familienurlaub Mädchen läuft auf den Wernigeröder Märchenweg durch die Natur

Wernigeröder Märchenweg

The Wernigerode Fairy Tale Trail leads from the Hasseröder Holiday Park at Brockenbad to the Rapunzel Tower on the Armeleuteberg (Poor People's Mountain). Along the way, the fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and Rapunzel are told. Various puzzle and activity stations invite children to solve riddles and play games. We found the section around Rapunzel particularly beautiful. From the Rapunzel Tower, there is a fantastic view of the surrounding area. Before the Rapunzel section begins, you can stop at a small inn with a beer garden and playground. The trail is 2.8 kilometers long in total and has some steep sections. If you only want to explore the Rapunzel section, you will find a hiking parking lot near the inn.

Familienurlaub Schloß Wernigerode Blick auf das Schloßgebäude im Innenhof

Schloß Wernigerode

When visiting Wernigerode, a trip to Wernigerode Castle is a must. Perched atop a small hill overlooking the town, it has served as a backdrop for numerous films, most notably "The Little Castle Ghost" and "The School of Magical Animals" (from part 2 onwards). Regular guided tours offer glimpses into filming locations and hidden corners of the castle that are normally closed to the public. These tours are especially suitable for children. Exploring the museum independently is also highly recommended. Originally a medieval fortress, the castle was transformed into a romantic residence in the late 17th century through renovations and expansions undertaken by the Count of Stolberg-Wernigerode. A small café is located in the inner courtyard, and further outdoor seating areas offer magnificent views of the town. The castle park is also well worth a visit. Currently, the castle is not wheelchair accessible, but special tours are available for blind and visually impaired visitors. Please note that photography and filming are not permitted inside the buildings (except during the filming location tours). From the parking lot, the walking time to the castle is about 10-15 minutes.

Familienurlaub Café Harzer Baumkuchen Blick auf den Einfang ins Café

Harzer Baumkuchen
Baumkuchenhaus

Baumkuchen has been made in Wernigerode since 1749. This delicious, multi-layered cake, usually only available at Christmas in northern Germany, has its own café on the outskirts of town. The Baumkuchenhaus offers various versions of the namesake cake, either to enjoy in the cozy café or to take away. A unique feature is that the entire place is decorated with Baumkuchen. Even the robotic lawnmower has a Baumkuchen on its lid. The café also houses a small museum about cake making and offers regular baking demonstrations. We were particularly impressed by the natural Baumkuchen pieces – simply delicious fresh from the oven! The café is wheelchair accessible.

However, it is currently closed for renovations until approximately summer 2026.

Blick in einen Bergbaustollen im Deutschen Bargbau-Museum

Deutsches
Bergbau-Museum Bochum

The German Mining Museum in Bochum is one of the largest and most fascinating underground museums in the world. The demonstration mine is particularly impressive: at a depth of around 20 meters and along a network of tunnels spanning approximately 1.2 kilometers, visitors are immersed in the world of miners. Among imposing machines that look almost like props from a science fiction film, it becomes clear how hard, dangerous, and technically demanding work underground was. It's important to know that the demonstration mine is not a former mine, but a meticulously detailed replica that vividly conveys history and technology. Back on the surface, you can climb the headframe of the former Germania colliery. From up here, you'll have an incredible view of Bochum and far beyond the Ruhr region. The experience is complemented by the permanent exhibitions. Here, four exciting tours await you, covering the topics of coal, mining, mineral resources, and art, supplemented by changing special exhibitions. The museum is especially interesting for families: discovery flaps, an interactive raw materials game, and special activities for children make the visit varied and engaging. Children under 4 years of age are admitted free of charge. A restaurant and a small shop complete the museum experience. The museum is partially wheelchair accessible, and guided tours are offered regularly. As a Leibniz Research Museum for Geo-resources, it uniquely combines science, history, and visitor experience. Anyone visiting Bochum should definitely set aside plenty of time for the German Mining Museum – an absolute highlight that delights visitors of all ages.

Familienurlaub Movie Park Germany Blick auf die Achterbahn und Wasserspiele mit einem Movie Park Ornament

Movie Park Germany

Movie Park Germany is all about film and film history. Many different rides and shows are themed around this theme, offering plenty of action, fun, and adrenaline rushes. Spanning approximately 45 hectares, this seasonal theme park offers a wealth of things to discover and the chance to shake hands with some of your childhood heroes. The Nickelodeon-themed area is especially great for younger children. Here, you can meet your favorite characters from Paw Patrol and SpongeBob SquarePants in person, dance with them, take selfies, or even have an exclusive meet and greet (for a fee). The rides are also themed. Our tip: Movie Park is particularly worthwhile for children aged 6 and up and taller than 1.20 meters, as they can enjoy almost all the rides. Movie Park makes extensive use of darkness and lighting effects in its attractions. This is something to keep in mind if you're visiting an indoor attraction with younger, more easily frightened children. But the many different shows and stunt performances are also impressive and will captivate and amaze not only the youngest visitors. On select days, a small film parade takes place through Movie Park. The many shops in the Hollywood Street set are especially cool. Here you'll find awesome merchandise for your favorite movies. Of course, you'll also find several "lucky booths" in the park where you can win large plush toys (for a fee). It's recommended to visit the park during the week to avoid long waiting times. Be sure to check if you can book Movie Park in conjunction with a hotel; this will save you money on admission and often includes a shuttle service. The park is wheelchair accessible, although not all attractions are fully accessible. Dogs are not allowed in the park. Parking is subject to a fee.

Ferienhof Winkelkötter
Sauwohlfühlhof

Winkelkötter Farm is nicknamed the "Pig's Wellbeing Farm," and that pretty much says it all – it really is probably the most relaxed farm stay in North Rhine-Westphalia. The rooms are lovingly furnished, and everything has been thought of. From high chairs and dishwasher tablets to plenty of towels and a beautifully furnished children's room – you can arrive and feel right at home. Your kids can run around, play, and have fun on the farm. There's a fantastic playground with a treehouse and a long zip line, countless ride-on toys, sun loungers for relaxing, a communal barbecue (charcoal is provided), or you can end the evening relaxing by the fire pit and gazing at the stars (you have a truly amazing view of the starry sky). Of course, animal lovers won't be disappointed either. Besides two really cute (large) dogs, there are many chickens (you can collect your fresh breakfast eggs directly from the henhouse in the morning), sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas, a donkey, rabbits, and deer. All the animals can be petted (if they allow it), and even some of the chickens enjoy an extra cuddle. You can help with feeding the animals by prior arrangement. If you'd like a truly special walk, you can sign up for an alpaca trek. If the weather isn't cooperating, your kids can romp around in the straw barn or in the indoor playground with its artificial turf soccer field. The barn is also available for birthday parties. For older guests, there's a pool table and various games in the common room. Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed in the holiday apartments. However, the farm also has a campsite where your four-legged friend is welcome. An accessible ground-floor apartment is also available. If you need to do laundry, a washing machine and dryer are at your disposal. Don't forget mosquito repellent. Also, the Wi-Fi isn't always reliable. The farm is a great destination for larger families or groups of friends.
