Schleswig-Holstein offers a wide variety of hiking trails. Nature invites you to relax and unwind – far from busy roads. You can find the most beautiful hiking trails that cross district boundaries here.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Hamburger Radrunde Radfahrer fährt der untergehenden Sonne entgegen

Hamburger Radrunde

The 250-kilometer Hamburg Cycle Route is a highlight for all cyclists. It circumnavigates the Hamburg metropolitan area and offers attractive routes, mostly through nature, including quiet hiking trails and former railway lines. The route is not currently optimally signposted, so it's advisable to plan your route carefully in advance. We used the route from Bikemap.de, which is recommended. The Hamburg Cycle Route leads from Wedel to Haseldorf, then on to Moorrege and Esingen, via Ellerhoop to Henstedt-Ulzburg and Sülfeld. From there, it heads south to Bargfeld-Stegen, Jersbek, Bargteheide, and Sprenge, before finally reaching Zollspieker via Kuddewörde, Aumühle, Reinbek, Bergedorf, and Kirchwerder. There, you can take the Elbe ferry to Hoopte (approximately a 5-minute crossing) or continue to Düneberg to cross the Elbe via the next bridge and then return to Hoopte. From Hoopte, the route leads to Wuhlenberg, where you turn into the Untere Seeveniederung and Over Planck nature reserve and follow the Seeve cycle path to Hittfeld. The route continues via Emmelndorf, Woxdorf, Neu Leversen, Schwiederstorf, Wulmstorf, Eilendorf, and Buxtehude. The final sections include Hove, Jork, and Grünendeich before you take the ferry back to Wedel (approximately 30 minutes). This circular cycle route is a must for all cycling enthusiasts, and it is recommended to divide the route into 2-3 stages to allow for a more relaxed enjoyment of the scenery. It is also advisable to check the ferry schedules in advance. Please remember to bring sufficient provisions, as there are only a few places to stop for refreshments along the route.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Regionalpark Wedeler Au Hund auf einem Wanderweg links und rechts befinden sich weite Felder

Wedeler Au Regional Park

The Wedeler Au Regional Park covers 12,000 hectares and forms a long landscape axis from Hamburg-Blankenese across the Klövensteen and Holmer Sandberge to the Tävsmoor, extending westward to the Hetlinger Schanze. This regional park, created through cross-border cooperation, is now a popular recreational area for hikers, cyclists, and runners. The park's diverse landscape ranges from inland dunes and marshes to moors and forests, as well as meadows and pastures, all of which can be explored. Information panels provide insights into the park's flora and fauna. Three signposted cycling routes allow visitors to explore the Wedeler Au: The Elbe Route (marked with a blue sailboat) covers 27 kilometers along the Autal valley, Schnaakenmoor, open fields, Marienhöhe Forest Park, the Elbe riverbank, and the Wedeler Marsch. The Sülldorf and Wedel S-Bahn stations are ideal starting points for this tour. The Forest Route (red oak leaf) stretches for 23 kilometers and leads through Sülldorf, Wedeler Au, Klövensteen, and the Butter and Schnackenmoor bogs. Starting at the Rissen or Sülldorf S-Bahn station is recommended. The Dune Route (green lizard) covers 23 kilometers through the Holmer Sandberge, Buttermoor, and the Appener Lakes, with the parking lot west of the Holmer Sandberge as the starting point. Other longer routes in the regional park include the Haseldorfer Marsch (green eagle, 37 kilometers), Klövensteen (green stag, 29 kilometers), and the Rose Nursery & Tree Farms (green rose, 35 kilometers).

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Europas längster Gehölzlehrpfad Blick auf den Wander- und Radweg zwischen Bäumen und Büschen

Europe's longest fruit and shrub nature trail

This unique hiking and cycling route stretches along the former narrow-gauge railway line from Elmshorn via Barmstedt to Bad Oldesloe. Along the 23.7-kilometer path, 163 standard fruit trees of heritage varieties have been planted. Each tree has its own information sign, and the delicious fruit can be sampled right there. The excellently maintained cycle path only occasionally hints at the former railway line, which was decommissioned in 1973. Along the way, there are also small nature trails with informative display boards, such as the bee trail. The path is particularly well-suited for young cyclists, as it is barrier-free, offers ample space, runs almost entirely straight, and leads through a picturesque natural landscape.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Radweg Glinde Stormarnsche Schweiz kleines Mädchen steht auf dem Radweg mitten im Grünen

cycle path from Glinde to Stormarnsche Schweiz

A superbly developed cycle path in the Hamburg metropolitan area stretches between Glinde and the lake district of the Stormarn Switzerland region. This 19-kilometer-long cycle path leads through picturesque countryside and offers stunning scenery. Parts of it are also suitable for inline skating, as it follows a former paved railway line.

Hiking trails of the Alsterland active region

The Alsterland Active Region in Schleswig-Holstein offers various circular routes through the Alsterland area. With 20 signposted hiking trails, the region is easy to explore. Detailed maps of all routes can be downloaded from the website aktivregionalsterland.de.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Wanderroute 1 AktivRegion Alsterland Kreis Stormarn Frau wandert durch den Wald

Alsterland hiking route no. 1 "Rundweg durch die Gemeinde Tangstedt"

The approximately 25-kilometer-long hiking trail 1 of the Alsterland Active Region leads through the idyllic landscape of the municipality of Tangstedt. The circular route goes through the Tangstedt Forest, along the expansive meadows of the Alster floodplain, through the Kayhude Moor, along the Upper Alster floodplain, and through the Wittmoor nature reserve before returning to the Tangstedt Forest. Along the way, historical monuments such as burial mounds and weirs on the Alster can be discovered. Information panels along the trail provide additional insights. The route is also suitable for cycling. A playground, the Tangstedt dog park, and numerous rest areas can be found along the trail. It is recommended to bring drinks and food. Pay particular attention to the signage in the Tangstedt Forest and along the Upper Alster floodplain near the Wulksfeld Forest, as it is not always clear.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Wanderroute 2 Aktivregion Alsterland Blick auf die Beschilderung auf dem Wanderweg

Alsterland hiking route no. 2 "Wanderrunde zwischen den Mooren"

The "Between the Moors" hiking trail leads through the Wittmoor and the Tangstedt Forest. At approximately 10.3 kilometers in length, the circular route is ideal for hiking or cycling. The trail is well-marked with a yellow arrow (and the number 2). We recommend bringing your own food and drinks, as there are no places to stop for refreshments along the way. Dogs are welcome on a leash. The trail connects Hamburg North, including the districts of Stormarn and Segeberg.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Wanderroute Alsterniederung Blick auf den Wanderweg und Brücke über einen Bachverlauf

Alsterland hiking route no. 4 "Rundweg um Alsterniederung und Schlappenmoor"

Hiking route 4, "Circular route around the Alster lowlands and Schlappenmoor," in the Alsterland Active Region, leads through the Upper Alster lowlands and along the Schlappenmoor. The path is lined with countless pastures, meadows, and fields. This 12-kilometer circular route is particularly interesting for cyclists, as the route runs almost entirely on paved paths. Please note: There may be occasional cars on the road! A special highlight is the narrow path that leads directly through the Upper Alster lowlands, offering a magnificent panoramic view of the nature reserve. Here you can observe deer, cranes, and grey herons and fully enjoy nature. A picnic at this spot is simply perfect! I recommend hiking or cycling the circular route clockwise, as the signage is clearer that way. Dogs must unfortunately remain on a leash.

Route 7, the "Circular Route through the Municipality of Kisdorf and Winsen," leads through the "Winsener Wohld" (a popular forest for mountain bikers) and along narrow hiking trails past fields. The 9-kilometer circular route also runs alongside the main road, which I personally found strenuous. The narrow path along the stream somewhat compensates for this. With a bit of luck, you might spot deer or hares, although dogs must be kept on a leash in some sections. From the "Waldklause" parking lot, there are nine other signposted circular routes ranging from 1 to 6 kilometers in length. Behind the fire station, there is a large playground for children to run around and play on.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Wanderroute 17 Aktiv Region Alsterland Blick auf einen schmalen Wanderweg neben einem Rapsfeld

Alsterland hiking route no. 17 "durch Brook, Wald und Auen"

The 15.8-kilometer circular hiking trail No. 17 is one of the most beautiful routes. It leads through the Ammersbek lowlands, the Wohldorf Forest, the Duvenstedt Brook (ATTENTION: Dogs are prohibited year-round), and the Hansdorf Brook. Along the way, you'll pass beautiful flower meadows, lush forests, moor and heath landscapes, and quaint bridges. You'll mostly be alone on the trail, accompanied only by birdsong and the occasional airplane. Between September and October, due to the rutting season in the Duvenstedt Forest, you must follow a signposted alternative route. The route is well-marked, but from the Hansdorf Brook to Hoisbüttel, some markers may be missing or difficult to spot. Extra caution is advised here! Your car can wait for you at the forest parking lot in Hoisbüttel. The circular hiking trail is also excellent for a bicycle tour.

Schleswig-Holstein entdecken Wanderweg AktivRegion Alterland eine Brücke führt über den Bachverlauf durch den Wald

Alsterland hiking route no. 19 "Rund um Wulfsdorf und Hoisbüttel"

The 14.3-kilometer hiking trail 19 leads through the Wulfsdorf district of Ahrensburg, the Erlengrund valley, past golf courses, and through the Heidkoppelmoor nature reserve. This signposted circular hike is particularly attractive for dog owners, as the path passes directly by a dog exercise area. Although parts of the route run through Ahrensburg, you'll mostly be walking through green landscapes. However, caution is advised at the cemetery and in the Heidkoppelmoor, where some signage is missing. The Wulfsdorf estate is a good place to take a break, offering coffee and cake. If you have time, a visit to the House of Nature, run by the Jordsand Association, is recommended.

At the Friedrichskoog Seal Sanctuary, you have the opportunity to observe harbor seals and grey seals up close. The animals living here can no longer be released into the wild for various reasons. They are trained and examined daily during feedings. The seal sanctuary also cares for the rearing and rehabilitation of orphaned and sick seals in Schleswig-Holstein. After successful care and rehabilitation, the animals are released back into their natural habitat. Access to the pups is not permitted, but a large glass front and a separate information area offer a wealth of information about the current animals at the sanctuary. The excellent museum features interactive exhibits that encourage participation and reflection. A restaurant and a shop complete the offerings. Guided tours can be booked upon request. The facilities are wheelchair accessible. However, dogs are not allowed.

A particular highlight is watching the large ferries pass by. Free public restrooms are located on the beach promenade near Brügmann Garden. Foehr

Anyone who has never visited a North Sea island will instantly fall in love with this special island. Föhr, in Schleswig-Holstein, captivates visitors with its unique Nordic charm, stunning landscape, and relaxed atmosphere typical of the North Sea. Green dikes, miles of sandy beaches, and idyllic villages with historic thatched-roof houses characterize the island's scenery. Strolling through narrow lanes, along the salt marshes, or on the Wadden Sea, you immediately feel the tranquility and connection to nature that make a holiday on Föhr so special. Whether it's long days on the beach, bike tours through the marshland, mudflat hikes in the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, or culinary discoveries in cozy restaurants – the North Sea island of Föhr offers something for everyone. Anyone who has been here quickly understands why Föhr is affectionately known as the "the caribbian North Frisia"

Schleswig-Holstein Tipp Blick auf eine Zuckerwaffel vor einer großen Fensterfront mit Blick auf die Nordsee

Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei

The island of Föhr is only accessible by sea – and that's precisely what makes the journey so special. Several ferries depart daily from the ferry port in Dagebüll to the island. The crossing takes about 45 to 60 minutes and offers a first glimpse of the "Frisian Caribbean" even before you arrive. During the trip, passengers can enjoy the salty breeze on deck and gaze out over the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea. Those who prefer a more relaxed experience can take a seat in the passenger lounge with its large windows and comfortably observe the North Sea from the warmth. The crossing is also designed to be relaxing for families with children: On board, there's a ball pit and a children's cinema to keep the little ones entertained. The onboard bistro caters to guests' needs with a selection of breakfast, coffee and cake, and savory snacks. The ferry also transports cars, bicycles, and luggage, allowing guests to explore Föhr with ease. Those who prefer to leave their car on the mainland can park it for a fee in the large, guarded "island car park" in Dagebüll. Especially convenient for train travelers: the Dagebüll Mole train station is located directly in front of the ferry terminal. The regional train runs right to the harbor, so transferring from train to ferry takes only a few steps.

cycle paths

The island of Föhr is perfect for exploring by bicycle. A dense network of well-maintained cycle paths crisscrosses the entire island, making cycling particularly enjoyable. Whether you prefer a leisurely ride along the dike with views of the Wadden Sea or a route through idyllic island villages, there's something to discover on every stretch of Föhr. The five themed circular cycle routes, which connect different regions of the island, are especially popular. The tours range in length from 15 kilometers (Tour 3) to 40 kilometers (Tour 1) and are fully signposted with clearly visible symbols, making navigation easy. Many of the paths are also suitable for inline skaters, allowing them to easily experience the island in a sporty way. A detailed cycling and hiking map with all tours and paths is available free of charge at the Föhr Tourist Information Center. For those who don't want to bring their own bicycle, bike rentals are readily available on Föhr. One example is Föhrrad: bicycles can be easily rented there and are delivered directly to holiday accommodations across the island and picked up again later. This makes cycling on Föhr one of the most beautiful ways to discover the island, its nature and its charming villages in a relaxed manner.

These are businesses, restaurants, and vendors on the island that operate in a particularly responsible and sustainable manner. The stamp stations are spread across the island and can be easily combined with a bike ride or a walk. This way, you not only discover new places but also gain interesting insights into sustainable projects on Föhr. A special highlight: After collecting ten stamps, you'll receive the "Green Onerwai" pin as a memento of your sustainable island discovery tour. The corresponding stamp booklet for the Green Onerwai is available free of charge at the Föhr Tourist Information Center. So nothing stands in the way of your sustainable island exploration!

Planet Trail

The Föhr Planet Trail is a unique adventure trail that brings the solar system to life on a scale of 1:400 million. Starting at the Sun, located at the lighthouse in Wyk on Föhr, you'll embark on a fascinating journey through our solar system. The approximately 11.3-kilometer trail ends at Neptune in Utersum, offering exciting insights into the vastness of space – right on the North Sea coast. Every meter of the trail represents 400,000 kilometers in actual space, making the immense distances between the sun and the planets vivid and tangible. Numerous information panels along the route provide details about each planet, its size, special features, and interesting facts about our solar system. A particularly appealing aspect of the Planet Trail is its location directly on the coast. You'll hike primarily along the beach, enjoying the fresh North Sea air and picturesque views. The trail ideally combines hiking, nature, and education, making it an exciting destination for families and astronomy enthusiasts alike on the island of Föhr.

 mudflat hiking tour

A mudflat hike in the Wadden Sea is simply a must on any visit to the island of Föhr. Walking alongside the sea as the seabed is exposed is a truly special nature experience. You can discover many exciting finds – for example, beautifully patterned cockles, oysters, or other treasures from the mudflats. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter small mudflat inhabitants like hermit crabs or slipper limpets. When collecting, however, there's an important rule: intact shells should be left in the mudflats whenever possible, as they provide an important habitat for hermit crabs. Since suitable shells are becoming increasingly rare in the mudflats, you'll be actively helping to protect nature. When exploring the mudflats, you should definitely keep an eye on the tides. A free tide table is available, for example, at the tourist information office in Wyk on Föhr. Make sure to return to the beach in good time before the tide comes in – because the water often comes back faster than you expect. A guided mudflat hike, for example with the Wadden Sea Conservation Station, is a particularly special highlight. On an approximately two-hour tour, you'll learn many exciting facts about the North Sea, the tides, and the fascinating inhabitants of the Wadden Sea. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a real lugworm. This short mudflat hike is also ideal for families with children and offers a great mix of experiencing nature and learning. It's recommended to book tickets in advance for the guided tours, as places are often limited. You can explore the mudflats either in rubber boots or barefoot. Walking barefoot is especially fun – just be careful not to step on sharp-edged shells like razor clams, as these can injure your feet.

Schleswig-Holstein Tipp Blick auf den Hundestrandbereich in Wyk

dog beaches

Dogs are of course welcome to join you on holiday to Föhr. However, a leash law is in effect on the island to protect people, animals, and nature alike. Between April 1st and October 31st, dogs are also prohibited from all of the island's beaches. To ensure your four-legged friends still have plenty of space to play and romp around, Föhr offers several spacious dog beaches. The dog beach in Utersum is particularly popular, where dogs are allowed to run freely. Here, they can run, play in the sand, or enjoy the North Sea with their owners. Additionally, there is a large dog exercise area on Strandstraße in Wyk, specifically designed for dogs. There, the animals can run off-leash and socialize with other dogs. So, nothing stands in the way of a relaxing holiday with your dog on Föhr – with plenty of space for exercise, fresh North Sea air, and dog-friendly areas all over the island.

Schleswig-Holstein Tipp Blick ins Käselager

Föhrkäse Hofladen

Anyone visiting the island of Föhr should definitely try Föhr Island Cheese. The best way to do this is directly at the Föhr Island Cheese farm shop. You can't get the cheese any fresher here: the cheese specialties are brought directly from their own dairy to the shop. The selection of different cheeses is extensive and leaves little to be desired. Made with love and 100% untreated, Föhr Island Cheese stands for genuine regional flavor and artisanal quality. The family-run farm shop is popular not only with tourists but also with locals. In addition to the various cheeses, you'll find many regional specialties and delicacies from Föhr and North Frisia. Upstairs, you'll also find a small selection of decorative items and beautiful things for the home, as well as a sewing room with handcrafted, unique items. A special feature is the zero-waste section: here you can have your own containers filled with various products – a sustainable way to buy regional food. There's also plenty to discover outside. Outside the farm, you'll find a small children's play area and a cozy corner to relax. There's also a milk vending machine and a farm shop where you can buy farm products around the clock. If you'd like to take a taste of Föhr home with you, that's also an option: many products, including the popular Föhr Island Cheese, can be conveniently ordered online and delivered to your door. The Föhr Island Cheese farm shop is therefore a popular destination on Föhr for anyone wanting to discover regional products, fresh cheese, and authentic island craftsmanship.

Museum
Kunst der Westküste

The Museum Kunst der Westküste (Museum of West Coast Art) – MKdW for short – is one of the cultural highlights on the island of Föhr. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the artistic perspectives of the four North Sea countries of Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Germany between 1830 and 1930. With an impressive collection of over 1,200 artworks, this non-profit museum attracts not only island visitors but also many art enthusiasts from further afield. In addition to the permanent exhibition, regularly changing exhibitions, guided tours, and special events ensure that there is always something new to discover at the MKdW. Visitors can opt for an audio guide that provides exciting stories and informative details about the exhibited artworks. Hinrichsen's Farm is one of the most unique destinations on the island of Föhr. This family-run business specializes in producing high-quality whisky and regularly offers distillery tours followed by tastings. Particularly noteworthy: The distillery is one of the few in the world to produce a 100% single estate whisky. This means that all production steps take place directly on the farm – from growing the grain to crafting the finished whisky. The grain used comes from their own organic farm, resulting in an authentic and regional whisky – without any artificial scarcity. But Hinrichsen's Farm isn't just for whisky lovers. Families will also find it a versatile destination. During the season, the farm café and restaurant invite visitors to linger. Nieblum

Schleswig-Holstein Tipp Blick auf die St. Johannis auf Föhr Kirche und alte Grabsteine

talking gravestones

A particularly fascinating and tranquil place on the island of Föhr is the cemetery of St. John's Church. Here you'll find the famous "talking gravestones," which, while not actually speaking, tell impressive stories of the deceased's lives. The artfully designed gravestones recount family histories, professions, significant life events, and honorary positions held by the deceased. With over 265 gravestones and plaques, this cemetery boasts the largest collection of talking gravestones on Föhr and is thus one of the island's cultural highlights. You can also find more of these historic gravestones in the cemeteries of St. Lawrence's Church and St. Nicholas' Church. Most of the inscriptions are in Standard German, but a few are also written in Low German, Frisian, or Latin. Symbolism plays an important role alongside the text. For example, a ship is often depicted as a symbol on the gravestones of seafarers: a ship with full sails indicates, for instance, that the sailor died at sea. A dismantled ship, on the other hand, indicates that death occurred on land. Other symbols also tell stories. A broken flower on a gravestone suggests that children in the family had already died before their parents – a reminder of the high infant mortality rates that were common in the past. The historic gravestones are now protected monuments and are an impressive testament to Föhr's seafaring and island history. A visit to the church itself is also worthwhile. The Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. John is considered the oldest church on the island of Föhr. Originally built in the Romanesque style, many parts of the structure were later remodeled in the Gothic style, giving the church its particularly impressive architecture today. Please remember during your visit: The cemetery and the church are places of peace and remembrance. Therefore, please behave thoughtfully and respectfully and give those who are grieving the necessary space.

It's especially lovely to simply pause here and let the unique North Sea landscape work its magic. As you walk along the boardwalk, you can watch squawking gulls and other coastal birds, hear the sound of the sea, or simply bask in the sun. Small islands of benches along the way invite you to linger – perfect for quietly observing the activity on the beach or on the water. This unique experience is great fun for children aged 4 to 8 – accompanied, of course, by their parents. Those who prefer something a little more relaxed can also embark on a leisurely boat trip with MaikeMoin and observe the North Sea seals – an unforgettable nature experience for the whole family. Due to high demand, advance registration and ticket reservation at the tourist information office are strongly recommended.

From roller coasters and water rides to shows, carousels, and various themed areas, visitors have a wide range of options. Discover the park's many small details and unique features. Hansa-Park is a little paradise for children 100 cm and taller (accompanied by an adult). We especially enjoy visiting the park in autumn, just before the end of the season, to experience the "Autumn Magic by the Sea." As darkness falls, countless lights illuminate the park, accompanied by a light parade with floats, illuminated costumes, and light figures at the entrance. The visit concludes with an evening show and a spectacular fireworks display. Children under 4 and those celebrating their birthday (up to 12 years old) have free admission. The upcoming season runs from March 26th to October 25th, 2026. The park is wheelchair accessible, and dogs are welcome.

Schlafstrandkorb

At Timmendorfer Strand, you have the option of spending the night in sleeping beach chairs. These chairs are surprisingly comfortable and offer space for two people. It's important to pay attention to where the sleeping chair is placed and ideally avoid spots near beach access points. We had a second sleeping chair nestled among the regular beach chairs, which proved to be nicer and more private. The sleeping beach chair is also rainproof, so you can comfortably listen to the rain without it getting too hot inside. You can also open the canopy at any time. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the sleeping beach chairs.

In the touch pool, you can gently stroke starfish and sea anemones. There's interesting information about the marine world throughout, and children receive a stamp booklet with various stations and puzzles (a surprise awaits those who complete all the stations). A restaurant and shop complete the Sea Life experience. Children up to 3 years old can admire the many fish for free. Sea Life is generally wheelchair accessible, although the walkways are not very wide. Please leave strollers in the designated lockable sheds.

Conveniently, the restaurant is located right next to the play area. Here you'll find delicious rustic dishes and a selection of cakes. Outside, you'll find plenty of play equipment, bouncy castles, a climbing tree, a water playground, a potato sack slide, and several animals. The tractor ride and some smaller attractions require an additional fee. In summer, the paid attractions are expanded to include a corn maze. At Karls, fun and attention to detail are paramount. The water is clear, and many water birds inhabit the lake. Unfortunately, swimming is prohibited, and dogs must be kept on a leash. However, there are opportunities to observe birds, discover hedgehog houses, and even find a gnome house. Informative signs provide information about the natural environment around the lake, and the NABU (German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union) is also present. Lake Krupunder was formerly known as Black Lake and features in various (sometimes somewhat eerie) legends. Today, the lake is a popular local recreation area. Fishing is only permitted for members of the Halstenbek Angling Club, and the Halstenbek Youth Council operates an outdoor meeting place for young people at the lake, complete with a barbecue area. Gettorf Zoo

Between Eckernförde and Kiel lies the Gettorf Zoo. There are many live feedings, where you can often even participate. What particularly fascinated me was the deep relaxation of all the animals during our visit. Even the little pygmy goats patiently allowed themselves to be petted and gently nudged us for a cuddle. The well-organized zoo is especially recommended for families with children. The playgrounds are lovingly designed and invite exploration. There's something for everyone, and in the summer there's even a water playground. If you'd like to spend a special day at the zoo, we recommend an exclusive Meet & Greet with your favorite animal. You'll get to know your chosen animal personally, learn interesting facts from the zookeepers about their way of life, and get a glimpse behind the scenes. The Meet & Greet also makes a wonderful gift. The zoo regularly hosts events, exhibitions, and an escape game. Children's birthday parties can also be celebrated here, and animal sponsorships are available. The grounds include "The Upside-Down House" (additional admission required). The zoo's café, serving homemade cakes, and the small shop complete the offerings. The zoo is wheelchair accessible, but dogs are not permitted. Free parking is available directly at the entrance.
