The Hamburg Green Ring is an approximately 100-kilometer-long path around the city, leading through parks, nature reserves, and green spaces. The route offers diverse landscapes and attractions, such as orchards, dikes, forests, and lakes. Following the signposted "Route 11," cyclists and hikers can discover Hamburg's green side. A bike tour takes about 9 hours and includes a ferry crossing at Teufelsbrück. The signage is good, but it's recommended to download the map beforehand from hamburg.de. Bring your own food and drinks, as there are few places to stop for refreshments along the route. Every spring, the Green Ring becomes a popular hiking trail during the Megamarsch event.

While not a direct destination, Gérily's House of Creations is something truly special in Cranz. Through her online shop, Gérily offers lovingly designed and handcrafted wooden gifts. Her memory boxes for children or special occasions are particularly noteworthy; these are individually designed and personalized with laser engraving according to your wishes. One of the most beautiful views of Blankenese can be found at the Cranzer Elbdeich viewing platform, near the Este estuary bascule bridge. The view of western Hamburg is particularly breathtaking in the late evening or on New Year's Eve when all the lights are on. Free parking is available (please remember the maximum parking time of two hours with a parking disc), or you can park without time limits on Estedeich street. Two food trucks are located directly at the viewing platform and are open from midday onwards. If you like, you can follow the paved hiking trail along the waterfront from the Cranzer Elbdeich all the way to Niedersachsen.

The Cranzer Elbdeich playground offers a variety of play opportunities for children of all ages. Attractions include carousels, a climbing frame with a slide, balancing elements, and various seesaws. The spacious sand area is perfect for digging; remember to bring sun protection in the summer. For those seeking more active pursuits, there's a soccer field, a basketball hoop, and two ping-pong tables. Four picnic benches are also available on the playground.

Meyers Park is a well-known nature reserve and recreational area located directly next to the Helios Mariahilf Hospital. It's ideal for walks and excursions in the woods. The paths are wide, but stony and hilly. In winter, the park offers several hills for sledding. There are two lovely forest playgrounds and a large dog park. At the Meyers Park Pony Farm, visitors can rent ponies and take them for walks on the pony trail. The pony farm is also located within Meyers Park.

Eggers Farm in Ohe is located in the Vierlande Elbe Marshes and offers a glimpse into rural life and organic farming. A special feature of the farm is its species-appropriate animal husbandry and respectful treatment of the cultural landscape. In the farm café, visitors can enjoy lovingly prepared dishes and cakes, including the particularly delicious fries. There is also a farm shop with fresh vegetables from the garden and beef and pork. Every Thursday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, there is a children's day with various activities such as feeding the animals, jumping in the straw castle, and a tractor ride. The historic farm also offers play areas and a water and mud station for children, as well as the possibility of celebrating weddings and children's birthdays. Four holiday apartments are also available on the premises, and dogs are welcome on a leash. Please note, however, that it is not permitted to consume food and drinks brought onto the farm.

You'll find a car ferry in Hamburg right at Zollenspieker. This ferry, Germany's oldest, crosses the Elbe River from Hamburg to Winsen (Luhe) - Hoopte in Lower Saxony. The crossing takes about 5 minutes and runs daily from March to November. You can pay on board with a debit card, cash, or a prepaid ferry ticket. Cars with up to 5 seats and one passenger cost €5.00. Additional passengers are charged €2.00 per trip, and children between 4 and 12 years old pay €0.50. Bicycles and motorcycles are also welcome, with prices starting at €1.50.

Caravans and motorhomes will not be taken.

The German Port Museum is located in the Hansahafen, near Shed 50. Here you can explore the development of the Port of Hamburg, one of the most important hubs of economic growth. The museum's exhibition area offers fascinating information about shipbuilding, cargo handling, and inland shipping. Over 10,000 exhibits are on display. For children, there are numerous interactive elements, such as "loading" a container ship or exploring the world of scents. There's also a drawing table for toddlers. A visit is recommended for children aged five and up. The outdoor area features impressive large-scale exhibits and the museum's fleet. These include large gantry cranes, grabs, a steam dredger, a floating steam crane, and the "Hamborger Veermaster" PEKING. Currently, the PEKING can only be visited as part of a booked guided tour. The historic port railway is also located on the grounds. The museum regularly offers a variety of events, such as bicycle tours through the harbor and workshops for children and adults, including blacksmithing and hammock making. Holiday programs can also be booked. Admission is free for children and young people up to 18 years of age. The German Harbor Museum is currently under development and will have an additional section in the new Grasbrook district. The museum is open from March to the end of October.

Another small children's play area can be found on Rönneburger Kirchweg in the Langenbeker Feld green space. Here, there's a special area for toddlers equipped with a nest swing, a slide, a sand digger, and numerous spring riders. On the opposite side, a zip line, swings, and a sand play structure await the children. For older kids, behind the bushes near the toddler area, there's a ping-pong table and an additional climbing frame. The play areas are openly designed, giving children plenty of space to play and run around.

For young children, the playground on Buchholzer Weg in the Langenbeker Feld green space is a true paradise. The numerous wooden elements in the sand area invite exploration and play. There are wooden playhouses, swings, and a rope bridge. The highlight is the two long slides in the play area. The open design gives children plenty of space to play and romp around.

The Langenbeker Feld green space is a wonderful recreational area for people of all ages. The park offers two playgrounds, a fitness trail, a soccer field, and a basketball hoop. The small beech grove containing the Langenbek burial mound is particularly charming. This burial mound, which dates back to the Bronze Age, was probably created between 3,900 and 6,000 years ago. To preserve its original state, the mound has never been opened. A network of paths winds through the landscaped park and is also connected to the wider network of hiking trails.

Located directly off the A7 motorway is the Garten von Ehren garden center. There you'll find a café and bistro that invites you to linger in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. In summer, the spacious terrace overlooking the pond is perfect for sitting outside. The café is especially recommended for cake and pastry lovers and also offers gluten-free options. Furthermore, the café is wheelchair accessible.

Located directly on the edge of the Fischbek Heath is the Fischbek Heath House nature conservation information center. Visitors of all ages can discover fascinating facts about the flora, fauna, and history of the heath at six lovingly designed themed tables. The large thatched-roof house also offers plenty to explore outdoors. Next to the Heath House is the sheepfold of the Heidschnucken sheep, which can sometimes be spotted there in the mornings and evenings. The information center is ideal for families, kindergartens, schools, hikers, and all nature enthusiasts. Admission to the exhibition is free. The Heath House regularly offers events and nature education programs, including children's birthday parties. The Fischbek Heath House is wheelchair accessible. Many circular hiking trails through the heath start from here.

Located in a traffic-calmed area next to a daycare center is the Fischbeker Heidbrook playground. It features large sand areas and plenty of space to play. The playground offers numerous climbing and balancing elements, a tunnel slide, and various swings. Since the playground is sunny, it's advisable to bring sun protection. Opposite is the playground at Baumhöfe, which stands out with its ample space for running around and its many hammocks and swings.

The Vogelkamp green space encompasses several expansive meadows with a wide range of activities for all ages. Within the park, you'll find disc golf baskets and various fitness areas. There's also a parkour course with different obstacles. The playground offers extensive climbing and balancing equipment, as well as a nest swing. A large, fenced-in combined soccer and basketball field, ping-pong tables, and a spacious beach volleyball court complete the team sports area. In addition, there are a few swings scattered throughout the park. There are only a few shaded areas, so it's advisable to bring sun protection.

The Stremelkamp playground is idyllically situated in a green setting and offers a variety of play equipment. The balance course and the long, curved slide are particularly popular. There is also a climbing pyramid on the grounds. For younger visitors, there is a baby swing and a nest swing. In addition, there is a large basketball court, which can also be converted into a volleyball court if needed. It is recommended to bring sun protection.

The Birkenbruch playground is located directly on the border with the Hausbruch district and is surrounded by greenery. Its main features include various climbing and balancing structures for children of all ages. There is also a nest swing, a long slide, and a sandpit. The playground is easy to supervise and is situated in a traffic-calmed zone. Nearby, on the Hausbruch side, is the Minnerweg sports field, which offers a large soccer field, a basketball hoop, and a ping-pong table.

The Mooranger playground is located in a traffic-calmed zone. This playground is clearly laid out and more suitable for younger visitors. It features a fantastic climbing area with a slide, swings, and a hammock. There is also a seesaw and a spring rider in the sandpit.

The Rehrstieg multigenerational playground offers a wide range of activities for all ages. Various attractions for young and old are spread throughout a park-like area. Next to the Neuwiedenthal Youth Café, a meeting place for teenagers and young adults aged 14-21, is a well-maintained skate park with various ramps, ledges, and pump bumps. An enclosed combined soccer and basketball field and a ball funnel are located beside the skate park. The large lawn contains the play areas and a long, bumpy track that winds around them. On the slope, older children will find a climbing pyramid, a slide, a spinning disc, a zip line, and swings. There are also various climbing areas in the sandpit and a balance course. The Neuwiedenthal Play House, located in the green space, offers various activities and holiday programs. The Play House is open Monday to Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is free for children up to 14 years old. Ground trampolines can be found at the playhouse.

The Fischbeker Holtweg playground is located in a long, narrow strip of green space. Here, children can play and run around in various areas. These include a sand area with a large sand play structure, a water and mud play area, a climbing castle with a slide, and a climbing tower with a pole slide. Children can also jump on in-ground trampolines, swing (there's also a baby swing), and seesaw. A chess table, a basketball hoop, a streetball court, a ping-pong table, various climbing elements, and a zip line are also available. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the green space.

The Hasselbrack is the highest point in Hamburg and evokes the atmosphere of the Black Forest. Whether you prefer hiking or mountain biking, the natural beauty is sure to captivate you. To protect the environment, the Hasselbrack is not signposted. It's best to use Google Maps for navigation. At the summit, you'll find a boulder and a small metal box. Here you can sign the summit register! On Falkenbergsweg (near the Waldfrieden parking lot), there's a large dog park, ideal for your four-legged friends to run around. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter a flock of sheep. From the parking lot to the Moisburger Stein, be sure to keep a close eye on nature; there are a few slightly hidden art objects along the way, such as Woody Woodpecker and a football player. Remember to bring something to drink and leave the stroller at home!

In the Fischbek Heath and near the Fischbek Glatze (a local landmark), you'll find beautiful hiking trails. There are a total of 6 cycling routes,

3 mountain bike trails, 8 circular hiking trails, 3 hiking trails, 7 Nordic walking trails, 8 bridle paths, and 2 connecting bridle paths. The landscape is by no means flat, as one might expect. The 8 km long hiking tour 6, "Fischbek Heath," leads through diverse landscapes, including heathland, past the glider airfield, through sections of forest and meadows, along the archaeological trail, and past the "Schafstall" nature conservation information center. From here, you have a magnificent view of the heath and the harbor. This tour, however, is not suitable for strollers. If you'd like to admire the beautiful purple heather blossoms, plan your visit for September. The landscape is worth seeing all year round, though. In winter, the toboggan runs (be careful, some slopes are quite steep) and the winter landscape are particularly appealing. There is also a dog park in the Fischbek Heath.

The Achterkamp playground is located in the Achterkamp green space. With plenty of room to play and romp around in nature, the area offers a climbing course, a zip line, swings, and a picnic bench. Younger children can enjoy a digger and a slide in the designated sand area. The centerpiece of the playground is the large combined soccer and basketball field.

The impressive castle hill originated during the Saale Ice Age as part of the Wilstorf-Höpen ridge, which emerged as an isolated mountain during the Weichselian Ice Age. In the 8th and 9th centuries, a ring wall with fortifications was built on the hill. Rönneburg Castle, presumably a strategically important location, was also built there. Today, the numerous old beech trees on the hill invite visitors to enjoy a leisurely stroll. This area, declared a natural monument in 1941, offers benches for relaxation and magnificent views (in winter and spring) of the surrounding landscape. The current barrier-free access to the castle hill is located next to the Rönneburg shooting club's parking lot.

With the HVV ferry 61, you can discover Steinwerder in a leisurely way from the water. The ferry departs from the Landungsbrücken (St. Pauli Piers) and then makes four stops. The crossing is especially recommended if you want to photograph the Köhlbrand Bridge, as the "Neuhof" ferry landing is located directly in front of it. Dogs are allowed on board, and the lower deck is wheelchair accessible. Allow approximately 40 minutes for the entire trip and enjoy a special panoramic view of Hamburg.

The Hamburg landmark, the Elbe Tunnel, opened in 1911 and connects the Landungsbrücken (St. Pauli Piers) with Steinwerder over a distance of 426 meters. The historic Elbe Tunnel can be traversed on foot or by bicycle. On Steinwerder, visitors are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Hamburg skyline. Those wishing to avoid the tunnel on weekends should plan their visit for a weekday. The renovation of the western tube is expected to last until 2026, which is why this section is currently closed. On weekends, the eastern tube can get quite crowded, and visitors are guided through quickly. Using the old Elbe Tunnel on foot or by bicycle is free of charge. Thanks to the large freight elevators, the tunnel is also accessible for people with reduced mobility. Dogs are permitted on a leash.

History was made in BallinStadt, for it was here that many people began their journeys to and from Germany across four eras. The stories of these immigrants and emigrants are now told and brought to life in three buildings. Thanks to the numerous interactive elements and fascinating exhibits at the BallinStadt Emigration Museum in Hamburg, visitors can trace individual migration stories and learn about the hurdles that had to be overcome before entering or leaving the country. Children aged 4 and up can experience emigration with the charming pet rat Jette and listen to her travel adventure to America. Young people aged 9-14 have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the multimedia game "Simmigrant," slip into the role of a virtual character, and experience the challenges of the journey firsthand in Building 2. The game is included in the admission price; be sure to ask at the ticket counter for the game card required. The museum also has a small shop and a restaurant. In addition, various language audio guides are available, and computer terminals can assist with personal family history research. Children's birthday parties and private celebrations can also be organized at the museum. Special exhibitions are held regularly. The museum is wheelchair accessible, and free parking is available. Children under 5 years of age receive free admission.

A particularly spacious playground is located at the corner of Uffelnsweg and Hovestieg streets. It offers plenty of room to run around and play, as well as a separate area for toddlers. Older children can ride a long, high zip line, climb in the climbing net, seesaw, swing, and slide down a climbing tower. Sports facilities include a volleyball court, a combined soccer/basketball court, and an asphalt scooter track. A table grill is available on the playground. The playground also houses the Katenweide Playhouse, which offers free activities for children aged 6-14 during the week. An additional holiday program is offered at the playhouse during school holidays.

Opposite Café Nova is the Wilhelmsburger Straße playground. The highlight of the playground is the large, fenced-in soccer field. In addition, there is a basketball hoop, swings, a carousel, seesaws, and a wooden climbing tower with a slide in a large sand area.

The charming non-profit Café Nova is not only a little oasis in Veddel, but also serves as a meeting place. The staff are volunteers and offer lunch and homemade cakes twice a week (usually Wednesdays and Thursdays). The menu includes suggestions for solidarity donations to ensure the café remains affordable for everyone, but of course, larger donations are also welcome. The garden is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a coffee. In addition, cultural events and afternoon activities for children are offered regularly. The playground on Slomanstrasse offers children a place to play and romp around, although it is quite small. The equipment includes swings, a merry-go-round, a small climbing and play area for toddlers, a nest swing, and a climbing frame with a slide for older children.

The site of the former landfill, with its toxic legacy, was closed off for years. It wasn't until 2011 that the landfill was encased and thus repurposed as an important urban development project. Nature was able to regenerate, and the site was converted into a renewable energy hub. Currently, 4,000 households in Wilhelmsburg are supplied with electricity using wind and solar power. The methane gas produced inside the landfill during decomposition is used by Arubis AG to power its smelting furnaces. The 900-meter-long Horizon Trail, which encircles the dome, offers incredible views of Hamburg and the surrounding area. Visitors can also get a close-up look at the large wind turbines and photovoltaic systems. The "Tamed Dragon" information center provides more information about the history of the Energy Hill (a charming three-minute animated video is available for children). Public tours are offered on weekends. The 40-meter-high Energy Hill is open to visitors free of charge only during opening hours (early April to late October, Tuesday to Sunday). Public events (such as the Long Night of Shooting Stars) are also held regularly. The Energy Hill and the information center are wheelchair accessible; however, the hill has a natural incline, and rest areas are provided. Dogs are not allowed. Smoking is prohibited on the entire premises.

Wilhelmsburg Island Park offers a variety of activities and attractions. In addition to five playgrounds, a free skate park, a high ropes course with 39 climbing stations, and a disc golf course, the park also invites visitors to take long walks. The various gardens and the Cuckoo Pond are perfect for relaxing moments. The park is also ideal for exploring on inline skates. Barbecuing and picnicking are permitted in designated areas; alternatively, restaurants and cafés are available. In summer, visitors can rent canoes at the "Willi Villa." For indoor activities, the "Nordwandhalle" (North Wall Hall), the "Schwimmhalle Inselpark" (Island Park Swimming Hall), and the "Wälderhaus" (Forest House) offer exciting options. Dogs are welcome in the park on a leash. Admission is free; only a parking fee applies.

Hamburg's smallest lighthouse, the Bunthaus Lighthouse at Bunthäuser Spitze, is quite charming at just under 7 meters tall and served as a navigational aid for the division of the shipping channels between the northern and southern Elbe. It was in operation from 1914 until March 1977 and has been a listed historical monument since 2005. The small lighthouse can only be reached via the Bunthäuser hiking trail. On weekends, visitors can also visit the Elbe Tidal Floodplain Center and explore the nature discovery area to learn more about the Elbe River and the unique landscape of the freshwater tidal floodplains. A small café run by a local association invites visitors to linger on weekends.
