Our latest excursion tips in and around Hamburg
here you can meet Pettersson and Findus
You can currently catch the popular
family show "Pettersson and Findus" at the
Lübeck Open-Air Stage. Join the lovable characters from the famous children's books as you celebrate Findus’s birthday and accompany Pettersson on exciting, humorous adventures. Of course, the cunning fox—sneaking stealthily around the chicken coop—makes an appearance, too. The production delights audiences with its charming staging, atmospheric music, songs, and plenty of humor. The talented actors bring their roles to life with great passion and enthusiasm, ensuring that both children and adults alike can fully immerse themselves in the story. Find more information here:

Boulderwelt Hamburg impresses visitors with an impressive, air-conditioned
bouldering gym at Berliner Tor. The spacious bouldering area features a diverse range of routes at various difficulty levels, ensuring there is something for everyone—from beginners to experienced climbers. Whether you are looking for an easy start or a demanding challenge, you will find the perfect route. Boulderwelt is a special treat for families and children, too: in the lovingly designed kids' area, little ones aged two and up can play and climb in a safe environment. Children aged five and older can gain their first climbing experience alongside their parents in the dedicated mixed bouldering area. Find more information here:

Don't miss this musical this week
You only have until August 9, 2026, to experience Into the Woods at the First Stage Theater and believe me: this semester project by the second-year students is absolutely impressive!
With a perfectly chosen cast, expressive performers, superb acting, and incredibly professional vocals, the ensemble takes you on a magical journey into the enchanted woods. There, you will encounter familiar fairy-tale characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, Rapunzel, two lovestruck princes, and the Baker and his wife, whose greatest wish is to have a child. But when Jack climbs the beanstalk, the story takes a surprising turn, revealing that even a "happily ever after" can have its dark side. A touching, humorous, and captivating musical that will stay with you long after the show ends. Find more information about the theater here:

If you are looking for a free family outing where children can play, climb, and explore nature all at once, then you should definitely visit the Grabau
Nature Experience ("Naturerlebnis Grabau"). Right by Lake Grabau, a lovingly designed children's and educational forest awaits you, featuring interactive activity stations, a barefoot path, a low-ropes course, an exciting "nightline" (a guided rope trail), two forest playgrounds, and plenty of fallen logs and tree roots for climbing and balancing. A special highlight is the lakeside observation hut, where—with a bit of luck—you can watch water birds catching fish. Admission is free, and there is a large, free parking lot right on site. The paths are easily navigable with a stroller, and dogs are welcome too (please keep them on a leash). Find out what else there is to experience in the Stormarn district here:
